Vibrant Blue & Orange Rinzu Silk Furisode for Women - Floral Traditional Japanese Kimono - Ancient Story of Princess on Scrolls - Kikkou, Shippou
A furisode is a style of kimono that has long, swinging sleeves (furi/振 = "swinging," sode/袖 = "sleeve"). These are traditionally worn by women who have not yet married, and are worn at special ceremonies, like the Coming of Age ceremony, graduations, and weddings. Furisodes with patterns that indicate longevity and togetherness (cranes, peacocks, Mandarin ducks, *sometimes* butterflies) are worn to weddings to wish the best for the newly wedded couple. After getting married, women will then wear tomesodes (with ducks, cranes, etc.) to weddings.
