The borough of Brooklyn has always had a personality and culture distinct from that of the rest of New York City. This dates back to the 19th century, when Brooklyn was its own independent city. (It was only incorporated into New York City in 1898.) As a way of acknowledging this unique flavor, former borough president Marty Markowitz came up with the idea of installing distinct signage marking Brooklyn’s borders. These signs all include text that references Brooklyn culture. This sign, facing traffic leaving Brooklyn, tells drivers to Fuhgeddaboudit! It’s a reference to the 1950s TV show The Honeymooners, which took place in Brooklyn. 100% Cotton Graphic print Kangaroo pocket Drawstring hood
