Tacos CDMX, Second Edition
A revised and updated edition in Spanish, with an accompanying booklet containing the full-text in English. Ostensibly a guide but more honestly a tribute, this survey of Mexico City taquerias has a subtitle that proclaims that it offers, "By far the best." Handsomely and vividly photographed, the book is bound in bright yellow full cloth. Establishments are rated according to a golden sun system: one suns are pride of their neighborhood; two suns are respected among connoisseurs, usually for a distinctive element; and three suns are those places worth travelling to, no matter where one is when the craving strikes. It says something about Mexico City taco culture that there's a chapter here called "Morning Tacos," and it's as substantial as those for lunch or evening. Profiles of the different taquerias help illuminate the depth and complexity of taco-making in CDMX.
