Tamatoa the Crab
Tamatoa is a fictional character of Polynesian and Tahitian origin. He is a giant blue crab whose name actually means “trophy” in the Maori language - Tamatoa is all about collecting treasure and souvenirs from the people he has defeated. This crab necklace is made from a real pass crab from Florida. Pass crabs swim along the surface of the ocean and are similar to blue crabs, with longer, more slender claws. They are most often used as tarpon bait. This crab was found already dead. A large, faceted opal on Tamatoa's back represents freedom, independence, spirituality and creativity. It is plated in 100% copper. This piece measures 2.5 inches wide x 2 inches tall and comes on a 20-inch antiqued copper chain. If you would prefer a different length or style of chain, please include a note at checkout. All electroformed jewelry includes a copper care sheet as well as a jewelry polishing cloth to keep your piece looking its finest.
