National Vulcanized Fibre Co. Brown Paper Mini Swirl (aka Burl) Scales

This material was produced as a decorative for the guitar industry.  It is a brown paper phenolic with little specks/swirls of character throughout.  This was also known as "mini burl".   It will take some work (buffing) to get the most out of this material. National Vulcanized Fibre Co. was a company formed back in the 1920's when National Fiber and Insulation merged with the Keystone Fiber Company.  They quickly emerged as a competitor to Westinghouse, GE, and Spaulding in the phenolic arena.  Unfortunately, the company went out of business decades ago. Very rare!  Only ONE set available! Scales measure 5.2" x 1.5" x .20" and are sold as a set.
