The Spinning Top Dreidel was inspired by the wood spinning tops of the Far East.The four sides of The Windows of Hanukkah Dreidel are embossed with theHebrew letters nun, gimmel, heh, shin or pe, the initials of the sentence “nessgadol hayah sham (or poh),” a great miracle happened there (or here), a referenceto the miracle of the oil. The artist aim’s was to create a dreidle telling the storyof the miracle. The dreidel, a brass cube structure with four windows, reveals thestory as it is spun.
