"Showing Off"

Original Fired Clay Sculpture Dimensions: 18" x 16" x 9" Commission Piece: SOLD A male chickadee tries to impress his female friends. Artist Note:  This commission was a lot of fun to do.  I wanted to have the neutral colors of chickadees emphasized with a white quakie branch.  Having one chickadee highly animated on one side and two resting and sleeping chickadees on the other side gave it a nice balance, and allows the viewer to see two different sides to these very active birds.  The handmade base (apricot wood) came from a tree that was over a hundred years old and planted by Utah Pioneers.  The rich colors bring out the rusty colors on the sides of the birds.
