The flap is attached to the tourniquet, which is then stowed into the main pouch and retained using hook and loop. This is a "blow out" style pouch, which allows the user to rapidly deploy the tourniquet in a single motion by using one hand to grab and pull the flap. The flap itself is mounted to the tourniquet by sandwiching it between the straps. Once deployed, the flap does not interfere with the tourniquets
