These beautiful salt Cellars are Crystal from the early 1900's. They are in perfect condition in spite of years of use and love. Salt cellars were originally at every place setting with a small serving of salt. Like sugar, salt was an expensive commodity and never wasted. It was purchased in block form and small amounts were scraped off and carefully served in salt cellars.The cellars came in all types of patterns to match the china sets of the day.Today, people collect the little cellars and the spoons that were used in them. Some people still use them to serve hot spicy condiments or special herbs to add to certain dishes. The cellars shown are 1.5" long and 1" wide. **Our vintage items may have age or production imperfections.
