St. Vitus Cathedral Window
Prague, Czech Republic When you first enter St. Vitus Cathedral, there is a section that is free to enter. There is a large clear plexiglass wall that separates this small section from the rest of the church, so visitors can see into the church. This area was super crowded when we walked in, even though they were closing in 50 minutes. Everyone was jockeying for position and trying to take photos through the barrier, and it was pretty noisy. That's when we remembered that we had actually purchased a ticket, and were allowed to enter the church itself. Once we walked around the barrier, it was like we had entered a different world. There were maybe 25 other people, but the cathedral is huge, so you felt like you were alone, and it the noise disappeared and I instantly felt calm. The late afternoon sun was coming in the through the stained glass windows and had lit up the marble columns and floor with a rosy glow that was just beautiful.
