This is a striking and detailed map of Provence.The map is beautifully hand-colored in outline and wash as published. The map shows many place names, rivers, mountains, towns, churches, etc., pictorially as is typical of Homann's maps. The map shows the Rhone River on the west to Nice, Avignon, San Tropez, Cannes, Orange, Villeneuve, Marseille, Remolin, and others. A highly figurative title cartouche adorns the map, this one with 40 coats-of-arms, along with a mileage scale and the legend explanation of the map's symbols. The map has a second title along the top margin; "Le Comte et Gouvernement de Provence".
