One of the earliest maps to show the entire State of Pennsylvania. This map by Reading Howell is the second state of a reduced version of his larger 4-sheet Map of Pennsylvania. The map has a lengthy copyright notice in the lower right. The map shows roads, trails, towns, settlements, Counties, Surveyor Districts, creeks and rivers, portages, canals, some topographical features (hills and mountains), and a compass rose on the left upper region. There is some hand outline coloring of a couple of waterway routes; One from Pittsburg to Le Boeuf along the Allegeny (Allegheny) River and French Creek. Another route from the confluence of the Allegeny (Allegheny) River and the Kishkemanetas (Kiskeminetas) River to the Conemaugh River then via portage to Franks Town Branch, then a short stretch along the Susquehanna River to Swatara Creek, then via a canal to Schuykill River finally reaching Norris Town just outside of Philadelphia. An interesting note is the post-map-printing labeling of Leban
