Circa 1869, Sterling, by George Adams, London, England. This fabulous complete set for twelve by George Adams, renowned London Silversmith, is in the classic fiddle and thread pattern. Heavy and well-made, they bear a wonderful cow over crown armorial, probably denoting a set from a royal’s county home. Very good condition. Noted: The matching sterling-handled knives are later, as sets of this period rarely had matching knives or they rarely survived. Also, one of the small forks has a slightly different armorial …the cow has wings. The set is comprised of 12 six-piece place settings = 72 pieces plus 1 ladle for 73 pieces total. 12 Dinner forks - 8 1/8 inches long12 Small forks - 7 inches long12 Dinner knives - 10 1/8 inches long12 Tablespoons - 8 7/8 inches long12 Teaspoons - 7 1/8 inches long12 Small spoons - 5 3/4 inches long1 Ladle - 7 inches long
