A unique modernist painted ceramic relief sculpture on board by Michigan artist Emil Weddige. A biomorphic abstract shaped ceramic and within emerges an elegant female form. Circa 1960s. Emil Weddige (1907-2001) was a painter, designer, and educator. Throughout his career he exhibited throughout Michigan and internationally. Weddige was commissioned by Chrysler, Dow, Detroit Edition, and University of Michigan to name a few. He was a celebrated member of the Scarab Club in Detroit and Weddige’s works can be found in several private and public collections around the world. From a private collection.
