Trout Lily
Welcome spring with our rendition of this beautiful ephemeral wildflower. There’s a substantial colony that blankets our backyard, right outside of the tile art studio window. Trout Lily grows in rich organic soils of Maple-Beech forests throughout Michigan and has an interesting life history. Research has suggested the average age of a trout lily colony can be up to 150 years old, and potentially over 1,000 years old in undisturbed forests. The Trout Lily Art Tile is a nominal 5x5 inches and about 1/2 inch thick. Many glaze offer a variety of textures and layers to control the different areas of the tile design. The background is glazed a transparent Smoke celadon. The leaves are dark green celadon, spotted golden brown and outlined in Jade. The flower is a sunshine yellow celadon outlived in a yellow satin matte. Iron glaze shows off on the petals, stem and stamen. Domestic shipping is $30 per SQFT.
