Tonight, Tonight

Size: 6 x 6 x 1.5 inches; acrylic and oil on canvas, sides painted red, wired and ready to hang. Exhibited at Palm Springs Modernism Show 2026. Inspiration: When I was in college, I took an Indian Cinema class at the University of San Francisco. It was a 5-hour class where we watched a Bollywood film and then had an hour lecture afterwards, breaking the film apart and critiquing it. As much as I truly enjoyed the class, I found it testing the limits of my attention span. I think the only film I really enjoyed that was longer than 3 hours was Sholay (1975), which was VERY long, but I LOVE a good Western movie. In the first ever lecture I sat in on for this course, the professor showed us his favorite music videos for the first hour. The first one he showed us was Tonight, Tonight, by the Smashing Pumpkins. For some reason, this memory has stuck in my mind as one of the most influential music videos I've seen, and it's stuck with me. I have millions of memories in my mind, but for some
