Size #6 Oval Box – Lined with March 1, 1808 Newspaper (very early)
This size #6 antique newspaper lined Shaker Box in an Antiqued Natural finish is 11 ½” Long by 8 ¼” Wide by 4 ½” Tall This box is lined with an original issue of the New-England Palladium, printed in Boston on Tuesday, March 1, 1808—making it the earliest newspaper I’ve used to date. Thomas Jefferson was serving as President at the time, and the paper includes Congressional reports, coastal trade and shipping news, early advertisements, and commentary on foreign policy. Newspapers were carefully sourced from antique shops in Maine, selected from damaged or incomplete sections that held no standalone collectible value. By repurposing these papers, we preserve their history while giving new life to materials that might otherwise be lost. Tricia used acrylic templates to cut the most interesting sections for each box, ensuring every piece offers something unique, whether it's a headline, advertisement, or simple text. Due to the age of the newspaper, you may notice natural imperfections s
