The English ProTecTOR is designed to: Protect the moving scapula from the head of the tree while riding. Disperse pressure over a larger area than a saddle can.    Position the saddle just at the rear of the shoulders. The ProTecTOR should extend 3" in front of saddle. There is a label on the Pad that reads FRONT OF SADDLE HERE   put label just back of shoulder, cover with front of saddle. Stabilize side to side roll and keep the saddle from sliding up over the shoulders. With good shoulders the correct saddle placement is automatic via the leverage designed into the Protective Shields.  Reduce severe seat aids to the horse which cause Dorsiflexion and the resultant hollowing of the back.
