Our hands with their delicate touch, their firm grip and their exquisite sense of feeling are profound extensions of ourselves. There is a church in San Diego not far from the San Diego zoo that has a statue of Christ on its grounds. Many years ago, the hands of that statue were broken off by vandals. The parish considered replacing the hands but ultimately decided instead to add a plaque to the bottom of the statue that read simply, "I have no hands but yours". We know the work of our Savior - He has declared it directly. "This is my work and my glory to bring to pass the immortality of man." (Moses 1:39) He has a pathway for each of us that will lead us, in time, back to his presence along side His Father, but in traveling that pathway, we will quickly recognize that there are times when we need help.
