Kanzashi （かんざし）is hair ornaments used in traditional Japanese hairstyles to hold a person's hair in place in a hair bun or similar hairstyle, securing the most artfully arranged hairstyles. Many hairstyles are not possible without it` so they still have a great importance. It was rather used as good luck charm than an ornamental hair pin at the beginning.
