Hyndman Q Tower - HO Scale
This is a HO scale kit for the Hyndman Q tower on the east slope up to Sandpatch. Built in 1882, was part of the Connellsville Division of the B&O. It was here helpers were cut-in to push trains over the summit. In the 1980's the tower was covered with aluminum siding and many of the windows covered over. Amtrak #30 was the last train to pass by at 10:46, October 2001. The tower fell at 10:54. Patterson Creek FN Tower had identical construction to Hyndman Q. FN was destroyed in the 1950's when a derailment knocked it off the foundation. It was rebuilt as a larger brick tower on the opposite side of the tracks. The base of the tower is 2.1" x 1.7". When including the staircase and oil tank platform, the size is 5.0" x 1.7" Skill level to assemble the tower is 2 out of 5. A minor amount of sanding is required and there are small parts to handle.
