My name is Janet Cramer. I was born in Maryborough, Australia to American parents. I grew up in Kansas and began my drum journey studying drum set with John Cushon (Oleta Adams) and mallet percussion with Keith Larson. I received a scholarship to be a percussion major at Wichita State University under the tutelage of Dr. J.C. Combs. During my undergraduate years, I began my life-long study of Afro-Cuban drumming: drums such as congas, bongo, bata; rhythms such as rumba, son, and the various toques associated with the bata drums.
