The slender stems grow up to 15 feet tall and are 1 to 2 inches in diameter. Wedge-shaped leaflets may be up to 18 inches long and are deep glossy green. After flowering the fruits turn from green to orange to red. The crown shafts are 1 foot tall, slightly bulging at their bases and blue/greenish white. Still quite rare in cultivation, Ptychosperma furcatum is a medium-sized palm that can be grown in a container or planted in a semi shady tropical location.
