HANDALA DESIGN - UNISEX Sizes ABOUT HANDALA (THE KID CARICATURE): Handala; a famous cartoon sketch by Palestinian Naji Al Ali. Handala represents Palestinian refugees. He is a symbol of the Palestinian people's struggle for justice and self-determination. Handala is not a fat, happy, kid, but rather a barefoot kid like refugee camp children. His hands are clasped behind his back as a sign of rejection at a time when solutions presented to Palestinian were the American and western way. Handala was born ten years old, and will always be ten years old, which is the age Naji Al Ali left his homeland Palestine and got displaced. According to Naji Al ALi, Handala will only start growing older when he gets to return home to Palestine. The laws of nature don't apply to Handla. He is unique. THE FRONT SIDE OF THE DESIGN: the front side is Handala in modern day, as if he was to return home today. He'd be standing in-front of the west bank apartheid wall. The wall has graffiti on it that says
