His incredible story is one of great courage, sacrifice, and horrific loss in the name of love. Landmesser joined the Nazi Party in 1931. But it was the only legal political affiliation one could have in Germany at the time, so he had little choice. In a few year's time, August met the love of his life, Irma Eckler.
