Shenandoah' is said to be the most spectacular of the RED switch grasses - In warm weather, green leaves are tinted with red, then change to all red in cooler fall weather. In July and August, fine-textured, silvery-pink "flowers" begin to float above the foliage. Plants combine nicely in the sunny border with flowering perennials, such as rudbeckias, sedum and helianthus. Plant alone as a specimen or space 3-4' apart when planting in groups of three or more. Switch grass turns an attractive khaki color in late fall. Plants may be cut to about 12" between December and February.
