Childhood Cancer Foundation was founded in 2013 by parents of children with cancer who came together initially to raise awareness of childhood cancer in Ireland with the Light It Up Gold campaign, during the month of September, International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Working closely with Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin, Ireland's National Paediatric Cancer Centre, the charity funds three projects on St John's Paediatric Cancer Ward, namely, Beads of Courage, the Internationally renowned arts in medecine supportive care programme, Play Services on the Ward's busy Day Unit and a complementary therapy research project in collaboration with the hospital and University College Dublin, School of Nursing.
