[[Release Detail]][[Release Description]] Considering the enormous cultural influence of musician, filmmaker, artist, activist, politician, poet, visionary William “Willie” Dunn (1941-2013), the Montreal-born trailblazer can accurately be described as a legend. Born to a Mi’gmaq mother and father of English/Cornish descent, Willie Dunn and the legacy he left behind are vital threads in the tapestry of Canada’s Indigenous people. Dunn was one of the original pioneers of Aboriginal equality, devoting his entire existence to that pursuit. At eleven, Dunn discovered the music of Hank Williams and started playing the country’s greatest songs with a guitar given to him by his brother-in-law and sister at Christmas.
