Waxed for the budget Pickwick Records label, the LP was the creation of Moog virtuoso Perrey and renowned jazz percussionist Harry Breuer (though Jean Jacques could not be credited at the time, as he was under contract to Vanguard Records). Kindled by friendship and a fevered desire to explore, 'The Happy Moog' offers a delightful melange of crypto-Ragtime melodies, berserk tape-manipulation interruptions and Technicolor absurdist triumphs. Originally imagined as a children's LP, the final result held a timeless reverie of surreal optimism, futuristic soundscapes and sophisticated arrangements.
