The Intimate Journal by George Sand. 1977 Cassandra edition (c/r 1929), 198 pages. Translated by Marie Jenney Howe. George Sand was the pseudonym of the genius French author Amantine-Lucile-Aurore Dupin, born in 1804, who wrote more than seventy works. She started a socialist and activist newspaper when women had few rights, and remained a journalist and diarist while also writing fiction. She scandalized those around her by wearing pants and smoking cigarettes. These are selections from her diaries. Condition: Good used condition. "...but this miserable masculine vanity!"
