Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, Lilia was highly influenced by Asian art, culture and food. In this piece, sushi emerges from vibrant colors that shimmer in a feast for the eyes; vermilion cuts of tuna, like the fiery, setting sun, gently nestled on a bed of green, with crimson salmon bites, whispers of ocean in every taste. Ebony nori wraps, enveloping treasures with delicacy, while pearls of roe burst with flavor, and the wasabi, a verdant burst of heat, awakens the senses, cleansing the palate of my mind.
