Collectors Dream - Circa 1813-1830 Mason’s Ironstone Sauce Tureen With Original Underplate - 2 Available
Purchase 1 or rare pair. An extraordinary early 19th-century Mason’s treasure — a matched pair of Imari palette sauce tureens, each retaining its original fitted undertray. Pairs of this form are scarce, and rarer still to find with both bases intact and beautifully preserved. Glazed in the classic Mason’s palette of cobalt, iron-red, and hand-painted gilt, the pattern blooms across the domed covers, scalloped handles, and footed forms with remarkable artistry. The knotted handles are sculptural and elegant—true hallmarks of early manufacture—while the underplates echo the design in perfect proportion, creating a complete and visually commanding form. These are the pieces that anchor a collection — refined, early, and wonderfully displayable on a sideboard, holiday table, or framed within a cabinet of English ironstone. 6 1/2”h x 8 widest to handle end/matching rimmed underplate 6 3/4” diameter
