Paul Pernot et Ses Fils Bourgogne Cote d'Or Blanc 2022
The 2022 edition of Paul Pernot's entry tier Chardonnay follows in the well worn footsteps of his previous vintages. This wine is made from declassified Puligy-Montrachet grapes that could fetch a much higher price point, but Paul chooses to offer them here, in a "Cote d'Or" bottling to differentiate this from a simple Bourgogne blanc. Refined aromas of roasted apples, lemon curd, cinnamon dusted brioche, vanilla bean and orange zest with a touch of white limestone soil promise a classic Burgundy experience. The palate delivers with a texture deeper than it is heavy, with acidity that doesn't shout but remains a constant presence. Marzipan, apple and peach flavors come with a strong splash of lemon and orange, and leave behind a refreshed palate. While this wine is delicious today, there's no rush to get to it, Pernot's Bourgogne Blanc has a proven track record of aging a decade or more in the cellar.
