Imaginative Short Stories ~ 3-sessions for ages 9-12 with Lenita Graves
Writing fosters imagination and creativity in children. It not only facilitates the ability to create and solve problems, but it also sharpens communication skills as kids learn to use description and dialogue to convey a variety of ideas and emotions. This in turn has a great impact on their cognitive and social development, as they are encouraged to build their self-confidence through self-expression. In this 3-session workshop for kids ages 9-12, expert Lenita Graves will use the steps of the Writing Process--Prewrite, Rough Draft, Final Copy, and Publication--to help students tap into their inner creativity and learn to express themselves in the form of a short story. Students will also learn how to revise and edit their story and get it published! *Lenita Graves has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and has been teaching for over 32 years. She is also a published author, under the pen name Lenita Sheridan, of three children’s books in a series titled "Guardian of the Gauntlet" and has had poetry published in her hometown newspaper "The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner".
