Hand cast bronze finish with a verdi gris patina. The mold was first hand carved in wax using the lost wax casting process and then cast using bronze and finally patinated by hand. With it's hollow center, it can be used as a vessel or alone as a sculpture. In Chinese and Japanese culture, the koi fish is symbolic of good luck, abundance, perseverance, and determination. The legend of the koi fish swimming upstream and transforming into a dragon represents strength and the ability to overcome obstacles, as the koi fish battles its way against the current. This transformation symbolizes growth, success, and advancement in life.
