Jarkko stalked through the trees, a brand new German Panzerfaust in hand and his trusty Suomi submachine-gun slung over his shoulder. He could hear the revving of a tank’s engine as the Ivans’ gunned it to get over some forest obstacle. He heard some voices, not too far in the distance, arguing. His sergeant, a few paces ahead, signalled a stop with a raised hand, turned and waved Jarkko and his squad forward. They crept forward, keeping as quiet as possible, until they were only ten or so metres from the tank. One Russian was dismounted, arguing with the driver in an animated fashion. Jarkko signalled the attack with a hand gesture and his men increased their pace. Once within a few metres the submachine-gunners opened fire on the exposed tank crew.
