World War III Team Yankee Oil Wars: Israeli Mech Infantry Platoon
World War III Team Yankee Oil Wars: Israeli Mech Infantry Platoon Israeli infantry forces used a wide variety of small arms, from foreign designs like the US M16 assault rifle and Belgian FN MAG light machine-gun, to captured Soviet designs like the AK-47/AKM assault rifles and Negev machine-guns. However, the frontline mechanised brigades were issued with Israeli designed and produced Galil assault rifles, backed up with FN MAG machine-guns. For short range self-defence anti-tank they used the US M72 LAW desposible weapons. The Israelis also recognised a good weapon system when they saw it and used locally manufactured copies of the Soviet RPG-7 rocket-propelled grenade anti-tank weapon. Each platoon also had a M47 Dragon antitank guided missile team and a light mortar. Each Mech Infantry Platoon was organised into three rifle squads of ten men mounted in a M113 ‘Zelda’, with an additional armoured personnel carrier for the platoon headquarters.
