A baby rabbit is also known as a ‘kit’ and is born in a litter of ‘kittens’ where there could be up to 14 bunnies! They rely completely on their mothers for up to 3 weeks because they’re born blind and furless. Bunnies don’t open their eyes until the first 7 days, and don’t have a thick layer of fur until they’re 12 days old. Because of this, their mother makes them a fur-lined nest to keep them warm and cosy.
