Golden Thread

With complexly layered flavors and strong, grounding energy, Golden Thread transforms patiently over a tea session. Slightly astringent and dry in the first steepings with a mix of forest floor, moss and dried apricot, the tea becomes more mineral, mountain stream sweet over time. There's a bright solar quality to this tea- a wonderful balance of earth and metal qualities, both pervasively grounding and uplifting at the same time. We found the tea was quite different when allowed to steep longer than usual, 15-20 seconds- for early steepings with water just shy of a boil. The longer steeping brings out woodsy bass notes and a pleasant vegetal thickness in the tea. Like most aged sheng, the tea is warming and clarifying, evoking a mild sweat, which actually cools you down and chills you out after the session.
