Antique Blue Hero Cross Mason Jar – Masons Patent 1858 – Heirloom Housewares Collection – Piece No. 3 A shining relic of pantry shelves past, this Hero Cross Mason jar brings with it the clarity, charm, and quiet dependability of a well-made antique. Blown from light blue glass with luminous bubbles caught in its walls, this jar once stored home-canned goods in kitchens where everything was done by hand. The front reads:Mason’s Patent Nov. 30th 1858, with the characteristic cross emblem at center.The base is marked PAT NOV 26 67 and the mold number 448. Its ground lip is smooth and solid, and the threading is beautifully intact. The zinc lid features an early ring design, paired with a perfectly preserved glass insert. There are no chips, cracks, or flea bites — only the honest signs of age and usefulness that make it such a lovely piece for display or quiet utility.
