Pinhead Gunpowder Green Tea Pinhead Gunpowder Green Tea from Zhejiang Province, China, has a surprising body with a captivating nutty, green taste. The leaves will open and sink slowly in graceful patterns. Legend explains this tea was named Gunpowder by a young English clerk who thought the tiny rolled balls looked like Gunpowder. We think he was quite right, but that is as far as the resemblance goes! Grown between 1,000 and 2,000 ft above sea level in the Zhejiang Province, China, these leaves are specially selected for quality and size during April and May. Steamed and rolled in the time-honored process, the green tea leaves transform into pinhead-size nuggets. An important ritual is to drop a pinch of the precious green tea into a porcelain cup and listen to the tinkle made as the leaves roll about. Take care of the quantity you use; this tea is as potent as the name suggests. Pour on water (not quite boiling) and notice the leaves opening gracefully and dancing in your teapot bef
