Koiné Greek, Year 1

Course Description:   Koiné Greek 1 introduces learners to the basics of the Greek language in an engaging and interactive way. Starting from ground zero, Greek will be used for roughly 90% of all communication that takes place, which will increase in complexity as the course progresses. Each lesson contains a video picture lesson that provides comprehensible input, introducing new vocab and grammar intuitively in the target language, as well as corresponding listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar exercises that further internalize the language. Learners will describe pictures, interact with props, express ideas, read and discuss texts, and ask one another questions about daily life, all with a focus on immediate comprehension in Greek, and not via translation. This forces learners to think in the language right from the start, building the necessary foundation for fluent reading.
