United States History (elective)
Class Description: “A republic, if you can keep it.” This was the response by Dr. Benjamin Franklin when asked what kind of government the men in Philadelphia created. The story of the Republic of the United States remains gripping, from its unexpected origins through remarkable internal conflict, to arriving as the world superpower. How did this happen? Who were the major figures, and what were the significant events along the way? Does it remain a republic today? This sweep of US history considers these and related questions, with special attention given to the Christian heritage of the nation.
