Flutes & Strings LP

Flutes & Strings (2025) is a luminous and introspective album blending jazz sensibilities with lush string arrangements. Conceived as a long-awaited vision, the project sees Walden—best known for his work with the Brian Blade Fellowship—leading a chamber-like ensemble anchored by strings. Featuring Yoo-Jin Park (violin/concertmaster), Conway Kuo (violin), Entela Barci (viola), Sarah Kwon (cello), and Wan Hao Xu (bass), the music beautifully intertwines flutes (including alto, bass, and piccolo flutes) with rich harmonic textures, guided by rhythmic and melodic depth. Recorded during the summer of 2023 at Electric Garden Studios and pressed at Quality Record Pressing in Salina, KS, the album conveys an ethereal yet visceral aesthetic that’s been nearly a decade in the making.
