MM-351 Hammer and Nails Activity

This exercise is a logical projection after the 'Hammering T's in Clay' product.  It includes a high quality child size hammer, safety Goggles, and a 12"x12" board with a hard surface underneath to limit the depth that each nail may be driven.  This presents the opportunity for the child to use the 'claw' of the hammer to remove the nails from the board for reuse.   This also represents the simple machine of a 'lever'.  Ask the child if he/she can pull the nail out of the board by hand?  It can't be done without a tool that uses a 'lever'.
