Barbara Lewis Entitled Chartes, this 1961 monochromatic linoleum block print scene is by Chicago-based painter, photographer, and printmaker Barbara Lewis (1925-2008). Lewis studied at the Art Institute of Chicago (1943), University of Illinois at Chicago (1967-70), and the IIT Institute of Design (MFA in Printmaking, 1970-72). Through her mixed-media compositions, she explored Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art, often using imagery of Chicago and her travels to Europe and Northern Africa. 1961 Linoleum Block Print on Paper 4.5"x5.5" unframed Signed, dated and titled at the bottom. Excellent vintage condition.
