Lost Lantern hand-selected this cask from Baltimore Spirits Co. in Maryland. For their Epoch Rye, the distillery revives the centuries-old tradition of Maryland rye whiskey and marries old world methods, such as copper pot stills and open-top fermenters, with modern innovation. The second monthly release in our Discovery Club, it’s the first whiskey we’ve ever released from Maryland.  This single cask, made from 75% rye and 25% malted rye, embodies the classic flavor profile of Maryland rye whiskey: complex, with balanced sweetness and spice. Aged for 4 years in a 53-gallon barrel, it is grassy with notes of dried lemon on the nose. The palate is hearty and full-bodied, with hints of warm rye spice, rich old oak, and leatherbound books. Savory and flinty.
