Ironroot Republic Texas Straight Bourbon Anniversary Cask
Lost Lantern hand-selected this cask from Ironroot Republic Distilling on the north Texas plains. The family-owned distillery’s use of European distillation techniques and its experiments with heirloom strains of corn push the boundaries of what bourbon can be. The most sought-after cask in our first release was an Ironroot Republic corn whiskey. This special fifth anniversary single cask is an homage to that release. Our first double-barrel bourbon, this was made from 60% yellow dent corn, 30% Bloody Butcher corn, 5% Floriani Flint corn, and 5% Elbon rye. It was aged for 3 years in a 65-gallon new oak barrel, then rebarreled for a year in an identical cask. The nose has hints of roasted corn and charred fruit. The palate bursts with notes of vanilla, black raspberry ice cream, and rich oak. You may notice that this is lower proof than you normally see from a Texas bourbon!
