Battle Cry - Cry of the Warrior
BATTLECRY, initially formed as TRAIN in the mid-1980s in Kortenberg, Belgium, emerged from the ashes of INTEGRATED MIND and OVERDOSE. Founding guitarist Jos Van Geit assembled a lineup that included Chris de Turck (guitar), Johan Reinaertz (drums), Wannes Susant (bass), and vocalist Chris Ketelaer. The band recorded a demo in 1984 and performed extensively throughout Flanders. In early 1985, TRAIN adopted a heavier metal sound and rebranded as BATTLECRY, making their live debut on April 13, 1985. That summer, they recorded a six-song demo and showcased their talent at the Whiplash Magazine festival alongside acts like AXEL and LIVING DEATH. BATTLECRY gained significant recognition after their song "Excalibur" appeared on the U.S. compilation album Metal Massacre VI, which led to an influx of fan mail from countries like Brazil, the USA, and Italy.
