The De Luxe Candle Collection
We are honored to offer The Essential Candle in one curated collection to recognize a great American artist. The De Luxe Show was an art exhibition held from August to September 1971 at the DeLuxe Theater in Houston's fifth ward. The mission was to bring contemporary art into a low-income, predominantly Black communities. The exhibit was organized by an African American artist. Read about him here. The De Luxe Show was one of the first racially integrated art exhibitions in the United States. It featured some of the most acclaimed artists of the era as well as several emerging artists who later became widely recognized.
